My name is Rosamund. I'm a software developer and writer (and still a translator at heart).
๐พ
I'm originally from the East Anglia region of England โ grew up in Norfolk and Suffolk, specifically โย and have been living in Berlin, Germany since 2014.
๐
Python, specifically the Django web framework, made me fall in love with programming. These are the tools I use every day at work, though I'm lately exploring all the possibilities of JavaScript on the side. Given my unconventional path into it, this is my coding origin story, if you're curious.
๐
I see myself as bridging the gap between the literary and tech worlds. On my bad days โ where I feel cursed for not being able to neatly slot my professional interests and talents into one category โ I'd probably call this "trapped between" those worlds.
Aside from working as a developer, I'm currently shopping my first novel around, plus I have a couple more big writing projects on the go.
Otherwise, you'll most likely find me stuck in a good book. I veer towards fiction and memoirs with themes of self-discovery and a strong sense of place.
Some other fun facts:
- ๐ฃ
I did my degree in modern languages and speak German & French. I am casually learning Ukrainian, but I also have varying levels of knowledge of related languages, which is more important to me than "fluency" in any one language right now. - ๐ฑ
I'm a proud co-parent to three cheeky cats. - ๐ฑ
I've been vegan for 12 years and wouldn't have it any other way! Here are some of my favourite places to eat in Berlin. - ๐ญ
My biggest weakness is Swedish candy; the gummy, foamy kind that you can get here, here, and previously at IKEA. Yes, most of it happens to be vegan, and I like sweet, sour, and certain liquorice sorts!
